Malyabanta Giri which is known as Malkangiri (now) is a cool place embraces natural beauties like Rainfalls, Rivers, Hills, Mountains and Dance Forests. Every season it calls a Colourful arrangement of the Gift of Nature. People from far and near comes and enjoy their lives with its natural visions. The history of district Malkangiri is no way less thrilling and adventures any other place in Earth.

The only disqualification of the district is its low literacy in the map and of our state and country. Which put a big question mark over the talk of inclusive growth of its people. Learning and being a process by both the governments to the living of the people. Till it waits the all round development for the locality.

It is right said by Swami Vivekananda “The foundation of every place is the education of its youth”, with the intellect man has proved his superiority over the other beings. This poor locality calls the educated youth for its total development, who have energetic truth and strength.

A reknowound place of the Malkangiri district is Kudumulugumma, where a large number of legends beyond on it. But it doesn’t strength for the education. A time came education oriented people of this locality felt the need of higher education for its tribal, primitive tribal students and others. Their thoughts and attitudes became true for the necessity of the community.

A memorable time come which assembled a few members on an auspicious day that is 14 th May 2010.

The foundation stone of the college was laid by the then M.P (Lok Sabha) Nabarangpur Constituency Sri Pradeep Majhi. The institution was named as Darwin Memorial Degree College. Sjt. Saheb Barik was its founder Secretary and Sjt. Gouri Sankar Behera as its founder member - Cum - Ex Principal. The College began functioning primarily as an Arts College with Provision for teaching Pre-University Arts course, for which affiliation was granted by Berhampur University. In the First year (2010-11), there were only 64 students. The master plan was prepared for the present main building structure in 2010. The provision was made for teaching honours courses in Odia (48), English (16), Education (64), History (48), Political Science (64), Journalism and Mass Communication (16) in 2016-17. The outstanding growth of the college is attributed to the various grants from Collectors of Malkangiri district, P.A, ITDA Office, Block Development Office, Kudumulugumma, M.P, MLA lads and Student donations.
