The College Development Council (CDC) of Berhampur University was established as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and in accordance with the Statute-253 of the Orissa Universities First Statutes, 1990. The major objectives of the College Development Council is to have an interface between the affiliated colleges and the University; to act as the gateway to the University Grants Commission, New Delhi and to take pro-active initiations to improve the quality education in college level. The CDC is operational by one of the senior-most Professor of the University in addition to his own duties as the Director of the Council.

Seventy-three colleges affiliated to Berhampur University are enlisted section 2(f) and 12 (B) and 15 colleges under the section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. Some of these colleges avail UGC financial assistance for academic development of the Colleges. CDC forwards all proposals of the affiliated colleges to the UGC, for getting financial assistance under infrastructural grants, library books, equipment, major and minor research projects, organisation of seminars and conferences, autonomy grant, teacher fellow and other developmental schemes of the UGC.

IQAC

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore proposes for every accredited institution to have an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to periodically assess and suggest measures to upgrade the quality in the overall performance of an academic institution. With this objective in mind Berhampur University has formed an IQAC to ensure continuous quality enhancement and sustenance in its academic as well administrative activities. As quality improvement is a continuous process the IQAC has been playing a vital role in the post-accreditation phase of Berhampur University as it is committed to achieve academic excellence.

Berhampur University has established the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in the year 07.12.2007 as a post accreditation quality sustenance measure. The Cell comprises of different committees to assess, monitor, and advise on different quality aspects of the overall functioning of the University.

HRDC

Established in the year 2018, the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of Berhampur University has been actively organizing several programmes for faculty members and research scholars on different domains. The HRDC is managed by a Director and Joint Director. An advisory committee headed by the Vice Chancellor provides guidance and advisory support to the HRDC team for its activities. Recently, the HRDC Berhampur University is recognised by UGC, Govt. of India and included as Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC).

The Centre has a lecture hall for 100 participants and is well equipped with start-of-the-art gadgets for ease of imparting training and delivering lectures. It has 40 twin-sharing rooms for the participants, and eight rooms for resource persons. Besides, University Guest House is available to accommodate the resource persons and dignitaries as and when required. Being a residential training/human resource development centre, it has a dining hall to accommodate 42 persons at a time comfortably. In addition, it has other associated facilities such as office room, store room, reading room. The MMTTC has been striving hard to meet the aspirations of the faculty members of the Southern Odisha, in particular the faculty members of all the affiliated colleges coming under the jurisdiction of Berhampur University and beyond for their professional development, teacher-training programmes, and training programme for Principals of such colleges. Except for the period during the COVID-19 pandemic, the erstwhile HRDC has conducted various programmes and a brief of the same is given below:

It also hosts many national and international conferences organized by various departments of the University. During 2023-24, it has planned to conduct a series of NEP orientation and Sensitization programme, Faculty Development Programmes, Refresher course, Orientation Programme and Research Methodology Workshops, as per the guidelines of MMTTC.

BPCC

Biju Patnaik Computer Centre (BPCC) plays a pivotal role in the University so far as all ICT related activities are concerned. It was established in 1986 as the hub to provide Internet connectivity to different buildings in the campus through a Campus-wide LAN. The Internet service has been made possible through the NME-ICT National Knowledge Network project of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Centre also extends necessary technical support during procurement, repair and maintenance of computers, peripherals, network equipment, etc. All data processing activities relating to examinations i.e., starting from printing of admit cards, result processing, online publication of results of different Post Graduate as well as undergraduate courses are carried out in the administrative unit of the BPCC. Besides employee payroll, pension calculation, IT calculation, preparation of Form-16, and many other finance related data processing are also done regularly. This has helped in streamlining many of the data intensive, and time consuming activities of the University.

R & D

The Research and Development (R&D) cell of Berhampur University aims to provide a platform for promoting research activities and innovation among faculty members, PhD students as well as postgraduate students. The R&D cell is responsible for identifying research areas in the university, encouraging multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research, and facilitates financial assistance to faculty members, research scholars in terms of funded projects from various government and non government agencies as well as providing seed funding for young researchers. The cell also promotes collaborations/MoU with other universities and industries to conduct research projects of mutual interest. The R&D cell also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences to create awareness about research methodologies, IPR and latest developments in various fields. The cell encourages the publication of research papers in reputed journals, consultancy, and supports patent filing for innovative ideas. The R&D cell strives to create an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and excellence in research. It aims to establish Berhampur University as a center of excellence in research and development by promoting cutting-edge research that addresses societal challenges and contributes to the growth of knowledge economy.

Innovation And Incubations centre

An Innovation-cum-Incubation Centre has been established. It provides platforms and mechanisms for the actors and stakeholders in the region to interact with each other and thus to foster needs/opportunities based on innovation. The importance of education and innovation is undisputed in helping a nation become a global leader and in maintaining its leadership. Taking into the account the diverse needs of people from across India, regional growth becomes the foundation for national development. An Innovation Centre, as noted above, will be able to provide platforms and mechanisms for the actors and stakeholders in the region to interact with each other and thus foster need/opportunity based innovation. A University in the region, being the knowledge epicenter, will naturally be able to champion multitude of initiatives to create, exploit and diffuse knowledge and innovations into its immediate and larger society.

The R.P. Padhi Library of Berhampur University was established in 1968 to cater to the growing needs of students, teachers, and research scholars. It plays a crucial role in providing various information resources and services to support the academic and research requirements of the user community of the university. Housed in a two four-storied building with four main sections, the library currently boasts a collection of over 151,959 volumes, including books, popular magazines, print journals, theses, and reports in Science and Technology, Management, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Additionally, users have access to e-books, e-journals, and other electronic reading materials through the EBSCO and Science Direct Databases. R.P. Padhi Library has also access to JSTOR, a digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources. The university is also a member of the Developing Library Network (DELNET) New Delhi which is a major resource-sharing library Network in India that offers networked library services to users to undertake research in the area of information science and technology and offers technical guidance to Member-Libraries.

Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy Centre

The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy started functioning in our university with effect from 16th August 2022 with the keen interest and endeavour of our revered VC madam. (Such Centres do exist in some other universities like Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, National Law School of India University, Bangaluru JNU, TISS, Pondicherry University among others.)
The Centre’s primary objective is to generate knowledge on the socio-economic, political, and cultural issues pertaining to marginalized and socially excluded sections of the population (such as tribals, dalits, women, religious minorities). It aims to achieve this by encouraging interdisciplinary research with an active commitment to furthering democratic practices; and disseminating research outcomes, views and opinions related to socio-economic exclusion, poverty and deprivation.
The Centre has been conceptualized to correct through research and extension activities, the inequalities created through discrimination and deprivation promoted by hegemonic structures.
