Dr. Sudhakar Patra received his graduation degree in Economics from Ravenshaw College, Odisha in 1985, Masters degree from Utkal University, Odisha in 1987, M.Phil from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1990 and Ph.D from Utkal University in 1993. Dr. Sudhakar Patra received his graduation degree in Economics from Ravenshaw College, Odisha in 1985, Masters degree from Utkal University, Odisha in 1987, M.Phil from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1990 and Ph.D from Utkal University in 1993. Dr Patra worked at National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi as research trainee in 1988 and in Sri Venkateswar College, Delhi University as Lecturer in Economics in 1989 and in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi as Research Associate in 1990. Dr Patra joined Orissa Economic Service in 1990 and taught in Govt Colleges for 18 years. He worked as a Associate Professor in Fakir Mohan University, Balasore during 2008 to 2010, Senior Associate Professor in Economics, Ravenshaw University from 2010 to 2016 and presently working as Professor of Economics at Berhampur University, Odisha.
Dr. Patra has published 58 research papers in International Journals, 47 papers in National Journals and 38 papers in Edited books. He has also published 9 textbooks for UG students, 11 Edited Books and two research books. Dr Patra has completed four major research projects funded by University Grants Commission, New Delhi and South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE), Kathmandu. Dr Patra has participated in two methodology workshops at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand for 21 days and Kathmandu for 10 days. He has visited foreign countries 13 times to present research papers in International Conferences and chair technical sessions at Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Nepal. Dr Patra worked as a research grantee in United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and submitted a research report on Kendu Leaf Price policy. Dr Patra is Life member of 15 Professional Economics Associations including The Indian Econometric Society, Indian Society of Agricultural Economics, Indian Society of Labour Economics and Indian Economics Association. Dr. Patra is also a member of the World Economics Association and International Environmental Economics Association. Dr. Patra has successfully guided 15 research scholars for Ph.D. degree, one scholar for D.Litt degree and 12 students for M.Phil.
