About the Centre

The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy started functioning in our university with effect from 16th August 2022 with the keen interest and endeavour of our revered VC madam. (Such Centres do exist in some other universities like Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, National Law School of India University, Bangaluru JNU, TISS, Pondicherry University among others.)

 The Centre’s primary objective is to generate knowledge on the socio-economic, political, and cultural issues pertaining to marginalized and socially excluded sections of the population (such as tribals, dalits, women, religious minorities). It aims to achieve this by encouraging interdisciplinary research with an active commitment to furthering democratic practices; and disseminating research outcomes, views and opinions related to socio-economic exclusion, poverty and deprivation.

The Centre has been conceptualized to correct through research and extension activities, the inequalities created through discrimination and deprivation promoted by hegemonic structures.

Core Activities of the Centre:

  • Functioning as a ‘Resource and a Documentation Centre’ for students, researchers, visiting scholars, civil society organizations and faculty members;
  • Conducting training programmes and perspective building workshops for generating awareness on forms of social exclusion;
  • Generating empowerment through creating awareness of legal instruments by conducting workshops on socially beneficial legislation particularly for marginalized groups.
