Alumni
Department of Botany Alumni Association
Berhampur University’s Department of Botany Alumni Association was established in 2016. Members of the association include former and current students as well as department teachers. There are currently about 100 Life members. Every year, alumni gather with current student members of the department for a reunion function during the Botany Seminar’s Annual Day celebration, which is followed by the association’s General Body meeting. In addition, the Association’s Executive Body meets two to three times per year.
The primary goals of the association are to bring together past and present students so that they can know and interact with each another; to provide financial assistance to needy members; to encourage current students in their academics by introducing various medals and prizes; to honor retiring members of the association; and to give proclamation to members for their outstanding contributions to science and society at large. Each year, at the reunion function different prizes are awarded to current and recent graduates of the department for their significant achievements. In addition, a bulletin detailing the association’s various activities is published each year in the name of Phytoseminario.
